Privacy Policy

Last updated July 11, 2026.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy explains what information we collect when you use americanlawyersdirectory.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We operate this site as an independent directory; it is not a law firm, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship.

2. Information collected

The site collects three categories of information: details you submit directly (identifiers and contact details in a profile claim request or a contact form), technical data your browser sends automatically (IP address, device type, pages viewed), and call or click events when you use an advertised phone number or a tracked link on the site.

We do not ask for details about your legal matter, and you should not include them in any form on this site. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information.

3. How information is used

Information is used to operate and improve the directory, verify profile claims, relay messages you choose to send, measure which pages and phone placements are useful, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. It is not used to build advertising profiles of visitors.

4. When information is shared

Calls made through advertised phone numbers are routed to sponsoring law firms, and the routing provider logs the call. Messages you send through a listing's contact form are relayed to that attorney. Service providers (hosting, analytics, call routing, email relay) process data on our behalf under contract. Beyond that, information is disclosed only when the law requires it.

5. Cookies and analytics

The site uses a small set of first-party cookies for basic functionality and privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and page views. No third-party advertising cookies are set.

6. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You will not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, use the contact details in section 13. We will verify the request and respond within the timeline the CCPA requires (generally 45 days). The categories collected in the last 12 months are the three listed in section 2: identifiers and contact details you submit, internet activity data, and call or click events.

7. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell personal information for money. Call routing to sponsoring law firms may qualify as "sharing" under the CPRA's broad definition, so you can opt out at any time by emailing [email protected]with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share". We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as an opt-out request.

8. Attorney listing data

Attorney profiles are built from public records, primarily state bar rosters. If you are a listed attorney, you can claim your profile to correct it, or request removal through the Listing and Removal Policy. Photos are never scraped; a profile shows an initials avatar unless the attorney uploads an image.

9. Data retention

Technical logs are kept for 13 months, call event records for 24 months, and correspondence about claims or corrections for as long as the related profile exists. Data is deleted or anonymized after these periods unless the law requires longer retention.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, access to stored data is restricted and logged, and service providers are required to maintain equivalent safeguards. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

11. Children

The site is not directed to children under 16 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date above is updated, and material changes are highlighted on this page for 30 days. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.

13. Contact

Privacy questions and requests: [email protected]. Postal address available on request. For attorney listing corrections, the fastest path is the Listing and Removal Policy.

Every listing on this site is attorney advertising, not legal advice. We run American Lawyers Directory as an independent listing service, not a law firm or a lawyer referral service, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship with us or with any attorney listed.
